Mini Makeover: Quick, Long Lasting, Natural Makeup Look!
I met the lovely, Charnelle Paulse, when I did her makeup for a fashion shoot with Donna Claire. In addition to being a model with Ice Model management, Charnelle is a television presenter for newly launched, Ajax Cape Town TV (A weekly show for the Ajax Cape Town football fans, that airs every Thursday night at 9pm on CTV, DSTV channel 263). Charnelle starts shooting in the early hours of the morning and needs makeup that lasts all day. She asked me to help her with a quick, pretty ‘look’ that she could do herself. We decided to share it with you ❤ Thank you, Charnelle! This makeup suits almost everyone! I’ve focused on Long-Wear makeup products for the ‘stay-all-day’ result. You’ll have to invest in a good makeup remover if you use these products. I love REN Rosa Centifolia Express Make-up Remover.
- Prep your skin with your usual moisturiser. If your skin looks tired, needs some brightening and tightening, try a thin layer of Clarins Beauty Flash Balm under your foundation in the morning. It’s like an espresso for your face 🙂
1. Blend foundation into moisturised skin, using your fingertips. Don’t forget to double-check near your ears; under your jawline and near your hairline, to ensure you have blended any streaks thoroughly. Dot concealer under your eyes; around nose creases and on any darker/ reddened areas. If you have any spots/ scars, you can use the foundation stick to cover those. Foundation: Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick. Concealer: Kanebo Sensai Concealer Pen. 2. Blend with a soft brush. Brush: MAC 286 3. Gently Blot, (don’t wipe) any excess shine with Blotting paper. Bobbi Brown Blotting Papers. 4. Lightly powder your T-Zone to keep a natural glow on your cheekbones. Powder: MAC Prep & Prime. Use MAC Studio Fix if you require more coverage. Brush: MAC 187 5. Comb brows upwards and outwards with a barrel brush or clean mascara wand. 6. Using an angled eyebrow brush and eyeshadow, (close to your hair colour), lightly shape your brows. If you have hairs missing, you can use a long wear brow pencil. You can also check out my Brows post for more info. 7. Swirl Long-wear Cream shadow over your lid, staying close to the lash line. You can intensify the colour by adding more colour onto the outer corners and closer to the lash line. Remember to stay under the brow bone to keep a highlight under your brow. TIP: Start with less and build up your eyeshadow… My Golden rule is,” You can always add, it is hard to take away!” Eyeshadow: Bobbi Brown Long-wear Cream Shadow in Beach Bronze Brush: MAC 286 8. Use a brush with a more defined tip to blend some colour into the lower lash line. Eyeshadow: Bobbi Brown Long-wear Cream Shadow in Beach Bronze Brush: MAC 219 9. Using a Long-wear Eyeliner, line your upper tearline (under the lashes). This makes your lashes look thicker. Liner: Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof in Espresso (brown) or MAC Pro Longwear Liner in Black Ice (black) 10. Sharpen your pencil and draw a fine line on your top lid, as close to your lashes as possible. 11. Curl your lashes at this point and layer your mascara, top and bottom! Mascara: Kanebo Sensai 38° Volumising mascara. 12. Add blush to the apples of your cheeks with a big soft brush. Blush: MAC Salsa Rose Brush: MAC 150/139 Lastly… a touch of gloss to finish off Charnelle’s Look. I love Kiehl’s Golden Berry Gloss Enjoy trying out the look, ladies! xB PS.
